“Meeting Cheryl (my Ego, my companion) felt like coming across an old friend; someone who knows me intimately and jumps up with joy to connect. She had some reminders for me — of who I am and the choices I’ve made and might make — but mostly she helped me feel deeply settled and content and loved. Her exuberance is a counter balance for my sadness and not in a way that says “hey girl, change it up” but in a way that says “there are other ways.” We exist as multiple possibilities.
